National Office Chief Executive's resignation

Today the National Board of the Cancer Society of New Zealand accepted the resignation of our Chief Executive, Claire Austin. Claire has been with the Cancer Society since 2014, and the Board would like to say thank you to Claire for her achievements during this time. She leaves the Cancer Society in great shape. The Cancer Society is one of the most trusted charities in New Zealand, delivering high-quality services and research across the country. Mike Kernaghan, previously the Chief Executive of the Otago/Southland Division, has taken the helm of the organisation. “At the right time, we will be looking for a high calibre person to help us lead this organisation. It’s important we get the right person for such an important New Zealand Institution” says Peter Hutchison, Chairperson of the Cancer Society’s National Board.
